This massage modality is one designed to specifically target the areas that TMJ Dysfunction affects on the head, face, neck, upper shoulders and intraorally. As massage therapists, we want to create a relaxing environment and a treatment that has therapeutic value to our client. As stress is believed to be one of the most common causes of TMJ Dysfunction, we need to help reduce the impact that stress has on the body. Our massage techniques can help reduce tension and tightness in the muscle groups that TMJ Dysfunction impacts. As that tension and tightness reduces, pain starts to subside, the client feels better, and stress levels start to decrease.
This one day (10am-4pm) course will cover: what is the temporomandibular joint, what are causes of TMJ dysfunction, what is a TMJ dysfunction massage, review of massage strokes, contraindications to TMJ dysfunction massage, a recap on muscles, bones and body systems, preparing for a TMJ dysfunction massage, client aftercare and a TMJ massage routine.
Requirements to attend: ITEC level 3 holistic massage or equivalent qualification or qualification that includes 100 hours of practical massage training.
